Textiles and Art are my passions. I live in rural Mid Wales and since completing my degree in Surface Pattern Design at Trinity Saint David’s University, in Swansea in 2020, I am determined to make a name for myself as an artist and textile designer.
I started painting during lockdown, I was making prints from local places like Aberaeron, Mwnt, Cardigan and Aberystwyth, and in 2022 I invested in the needlepunch machine (which I used for my Major Projects at University).
With this special machine, I combine two pieces of fabric in order to create new and unique designs of my own. Mostly using wool and silk. I receive a number of commissions to create paintings and original textile pieces for customers from Ceredigion and beyond.
The aim is to create designs, paintings and products that highlight the beauty of the Welsh countryside. I often wonder how the shapes, patterns and especially the colours I see around me can be reflected in different designs. I believe my work can bring the outside in, bringing back familiarity and comfort.
Colour is very important to me. Looking at the countryside I see all sorts of different colours and I emphasize this in my work of showing the enchantment of the landscape.
